Carbonated drink filling line: price and configuration

A carbonated drink filling line is more expensive than a water line because of the saturation unit, cooling and stricter capping requirements. We break down typical configurations, budget items and the calculation order for your recipe and packaging.

What shapes the cost of a CSD line

The spread in carbonated drink lines comes from the saturator, syrup kitchen and automation level of preparation. Until the recipe and carbonation level are fixed, any number is conditional.

How we calculate a CSD line

  1. Step 1
    Break down the recipe

Sugar or sweetener, acidity, flavorings, juice content. The recipe determines contact materials, blending scheme and deaeration requirements.

  2. Step 2
    Set the carbonation level

From 2.5 to 4.5 volumes of CO2. The level determines the type of saturator, product cooling and isobaric filler setting.

  3. Step 3
    Design the syrup kitchen

Tanks, sugar dissolving, filtration, deaeration, dosing. We calculate where a continuous blending block is needed and where a batch scheme is enough.

  4. Step 4
    Select filling and capping

Isobaric triblock for PET, glass or can, cap orienter, underfill control. We design for stability at peak shift load.

  5. Step 5
    Calculate the full budget

Equipment, refrigeration and CO2, conveyors and accumulators, CIP, installation, commissioning, training. We show the cost per bottle at the line exit.

Questions about carbonated drink filling

Why does CSD need isobaric filling?

The beverage is filled under counter-pressure, otherwise CO2 foams and the fill level fluctuates. An isobaric triblock keeps the level stable and preserves carbonation.

Can one line run both water and CSD?

Yes, an isobaric line can also handle still water. The reverse does not work: a regular gravity filler cannot dispense CSD.

How many SKUs can the line handle?

The limitation is usually not the filler but the blending department and labeling. We design the required number of tanks and fast changeovers for your flavor list.

Detailed materials on the topic

Calculate a CSD filling line

Describe the recipe, carbonation level and planned formats. We will prepare a syrup preparation and carbonation scheme, a filling composition and an estimate.
