The key figure for a can line is the quality of the double seam. Savings on the seamer result in batch rejects, so we build the estimate around the seaming unit and control.

How we calculate filling into aluminum cans

  1. Step 1
    Fix product and carbonation

    Beer, RTDs, energy drinks or soda. CO2 level and temperature determine the filler type and filling mode.

  2. Step 2
    Select the seamer

    Number of seaming heads, compatibility with can and lid diameter, seam repeatability. This is the most critical unit of the line.

  3. Step 3
    Set seam and level control

    Double seam inspection, underfill control, leak inspection. We include laboratory cross-section control in the shift routine.

  4. Step 4
    Plan depalletizing and packaging

    Can depalletizer, rinsing, air-convey transport, multi-pack, shrink wrap, palletizing.

  5. Step 5
    Calculate estimate and consumables

    Equipment, installation, commissioning, training. Separately we show the calculation per can and lid — they form the main cost of goods.

Questions about aluminum can filling

Can different can diameters run on one line?

Diameter is usually fixed to the seaming unit, height changes by changeover. Diameter change is budgeted as a separate format kit.

How critical is seam control?

It is the main quality parameter. We include double seam inspection instruments and staff training in the project — without them there will be leaks and returns.

What is cheaper: can or PET?

The equipment for cans is more expensive, but packaging and logistics cost are often lower, and product perception is higher. We calculate in the payback model.
