19-liter water filling line: price and section composition

The 19-liter filling section is calculated differently than PET: most of the money goes into washing returnable containers, inspection and the returnable bottle fleet. We show configurations and budget structure.

The specific feature of 19 L is returnable packaging. The main part of the budget goes not into filling but into washing, inspection and rejection of bottles returned from customers.

How we calculate a returnable-container section

  1. Step 1
    Calculate packaging turnover

How many bottles return per shift, what percentage is rejected and how much packaging is needed in circulation for the client fleet. This is the base for selecting capacity.

  2. Step 2
    Design the washer

Number of washing positions, number of stages, caustic and disinfection, temperatures, water consumption. Washing determines both product quality and operating cost.

  3. Step 3
    Set up quality control

Inspection for odor and contamination, rejection of deformed containers, cap and plug control. Without this, returns and reputational losses are inevitable.

  4. Step 4
    Organize warehouse logistics

Dirty container acceptance, accumulation, filling zone, finished goods warehouse, loading. Layout is often more important than the machine class itself.

  5. Step 5
    Assemble estimate and growth

Equipment, water treatment, installation, commissioning, training. We allow for increasing capacity without replacing the base line.

Questions about 19-liter bottle filling

Why is the 19 L equipment budget lower but payback different?

The equipment itself is cheaper than a PET line, but a significant part of investment goes into the returnable bottle fleet and delivery. This must be included in the model from the start.

Can we start with a semi-automatic?

Yes, up to 200 bottles per hour a semi-automatic is justified. We design the layout so that an automatic triblock can be added later without rebuilding the shop.

How to control quality of returnable containers?

Through inspection before and after washing, rejection by odor and transparency, and tracking cycles of each bottle.
